10 months

it seems like he turned 9 months just a couple of days ago :) but here we are, in september already.

this is our jackson.

he is such a joy.  he laughs often and wonderfully.  for a couple of months now he laughs whenever you say “napkin, napkin, napkin”.  we dont know why but he thinks its hilarious!  he laughs when you throw his stuffed lizard in the air, especially when it lands on him.   funny noises make him laugh and when he’s suprised.  if he sees one of us pulling into the driveway or coming to the front door he gets so excited.  his laughter in the evening when he’s getting tired is especially out of control!

this past month jackson began standing (momentarily) on his own.  he has even stood up without pulling up on anything a couple of times.  its very strange to me to see my baby standing up.  seriously, how can time go so fast?  as in the picture above, jackson points and “talks” to us about what he sees.  his talking normally sounds like “gah, gah, gah”.  we do think that he can say dog.  and today it really sounded like he was trying to say “up”.  he has learned to move his arms up and down and does whenever he is on the changing table.  he loves for travis to hold him up to the fan and let him pull the chain to turn the light on and off.  in fact, he is interested in all lights and looks for the switches to turn them on and off.

as you can see, he does not like to be still!  taking just a few pictures with the beagle this month barely happened!  he likes to watch his cousin and looks like a giant kid compared to baby hudson!  his aunt jean discovered that jackson loves watching you bounce a ball and tries to bounce it himself.

jackson is learning “no” and to “look at mommy” when i tell him to.  he is eating more things everyday and so far his favorite food is apple cereal bar.  he still sleeps on his tummy and with at least two paci’s.  he knows the sign for “more” but uses it sporadically, and we’re working for the sign for “all done”.   this past month he did make the switch to all bottles.  it was a little difficult for me, i have to admit, but he just decided he was ready!

its bittersweet to know that in another quick month ill be writing all of the new things he has learned.  im trying to teach him some colors, we’ll see if he has learned any by next month!

9 months

well, he was nine months old almost a month ago on august 1st.  due to the aforementioned circumstances I am just now posting jackson’s 9 month pics.  at least its still august though right?  and he is not technically 10 months old…yet.

8 months going on 10

on the 1st of the month jackson turned 8 months old.  in other words, this post is extremely overdue.

so much has changed in the past few weeks.  the biggest change in jackson is that he is crawling!  and by crawling i mean he is all over the place!  jackson really learned to crawl at about 7 1/2 months.  he has also started pulling up to his knees (on seemingly everything in sight).  he even pulls up to his feet to play on a table-top toy.

we really enjoy watching jackson play.  he enjoys digging through his baskets of toys and taking things out.  when i’m in the kitchen he plays with spatulas and random kitchen objects.  jackson is on his way to learning to clap and wave.  he enjoys it when i sing the itsy-bitsy-spider and count on my fingers.  his favorite song is still “5 little speckled frogs”.  jackson really enjoys reading books, we normally read Goodnight Moon before bed.  it is a joy when he reaches for me, “hugs” me, and “kisses” me.

while we were at the beach he got his first fever, which lasted about a day.  but we did learn that jackson likes to take medicine!

with jackson’s new skills has introduced a new season of parenting.  we have had to begun really teaching him “no”.  i have to say its been a somewhat emotional transition for me.  i worry that I won’t be up to the task of having to discipline my son.  i want so badly to teach him well.  it is somewhat bittersweet to see my baby (who is still very much a baby) growing up.  everyone told us that time would fly, and i’m amazed at how it has.

(if you notice, jackson has a line down his forehead in these pictures.  he crawled into the pantry door as i was opening it.  he falls and gets bumps and bruises everyday.)

bienvenue le juin

our jackson is 7 months old today!  jackson continues to be a very happy and sweet baby boy.  he is eating a couple meals of solids a day.  (i have been rather slow with this but we’re starting to pick up the pace).  so far he has only eaten rice cereal, sweet potatoes, green beans, peas, and applesauce.  (ha, when i see it typed out i kinda feel bad for the kid – how boring!)

jackson has not one but two teeth!  they came in together.  he sits up like a champ and is very content to sit and play with his toys.  its really fun to watch him really entertain himself and learn how to do more and more with his hands.  he loves hands by the way, seeing us wave or tap our fingers.

jackson is doing great with sitting and balance.  but of course he has his falls and surprises us by being unfazed by it.

he continues to adore porkchop.

jackson is making more noises.  the most discernable noises that he makes are ”baa” , ”maa”, and “gaa”.  He moves and blows his lips a lot, especially in the morning.  he waves his arms around like crazy, especially when he is making noise.

and by the way, this month during our photo shoot, he was all over the place!  I think that one day he’s just going to wake up and start crawling!

six

six months old, really?  there is no way our baby jackson  is six months old.  but yes, on saturday jackson turned 6 months.

as i right this jackson is going to town jumping in his little jumper/plaything (thanks for letting us borrow it henry!!)  when i first brought this home for jackson he didn’t really know what to do with it.  now he loves bouncing, chewing, and playing in it.  i’ve been pretty surprised this week at how active he has become.  i love watching him, its fascinating.  he rolls over like a champ now!  he finally conquered rolling from back to tummy at the beginning of last  week.  no sitting up quite yet on his own though, but he is getting close.

jackson likes to play on a big blanket on the floor and can move all around.  he does this little worm movement to scoot to toys on his tummy.  our little guy likes to hear his voice for sure!  sometimes i think he’s trying to sing in the car. :)

we started jackson on solids this past month and poor guy must be pretty bored.  he eats rice cereal like a champ but reacted to sweet potatoes so this week the plan is to try peas and then we’ll go with some other green veggies.

really though, we just love watching our little guy grow; he is such a joy.

and here is our little jacksonian at six months:

it seems like every month during our little photo session jackson finds something new to entertain him. last month he practiced his soccer skills on the beagle. this month he tried to pull down the curtains. :)
